Dan Dominates in Sepang Sizzler
Hong Kong based British racing driver Dan Wells competed in Round 2 of the 2015 Asian Formula Renault Championship this weekend (April 24/25/26) at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia, taking a dominant double win. Driving the BlackArts Racing by KCMG car, he topped Official Free Practice on Friday afternoon before taking pole position for the opening race of the weekend. A great start from pole position saw him lead into turn one of the challenging 5.54km circuit before he went on to win by an impressive 17 seconds at the end of the 10 lap race. In race 2, Dan started from second position on the grid, but another blinding start ensured he passed pole man Darma Hutomo into turn one, before romping home to a victory with a margin of 11 seconds in 42 degree heat. "I'd like to say a big thanks to BlackArts Racing for whom without I wouldn't have got this opportunity, and KCMG for their continued utmost support. "Coming into the weekend, we knew we had a pretty good package and we set about making fine adjustments to our setup throughout the weekend to account for the changing track conditions. Race 2 was especially tough because of the searing heat, but as soon as I got the lead I just managed the tyres in case there was a safety car in the race. "To win by a margin of 17 and 11 seconds respectively, and to set the fastest lap in race 1 by 1.4s is a testament to the hard work of the BlackArts Racing by KCMG team and I'd like to thank everyone who made this possible. Also, a special thanks to partners Start JG, CTPS, and also Prestige for their support. I'm looking forward to the next race!" Wells will next be in action at Round 3 of the Asian Formula Renault Championship in Zhuhai, China on June 19-21.

Wells Signs off with Victory in Shanghai Finale
Hong Kong based Briton Dan Wells took his fifth consecutive podium with a victory in the final round of the 2014 Formula Masters China Series at the Shanghai International Circuit last weekend (October 17-19). Testing for the event had gone very well, with Dan topping both the morning and afternoon sessions on the Thursday. Qualifying took place the following day and this saw Dan line up with a 2nd and 3rd place for races 1 and 3 of the weekend. In race 1, Dan made a good start and was immediately putting pressure on his team mate on the first lap. With the long back straight of the Shanghai circuit offering lots of slipstreaming opportunities, Dan was engaged in a three car battle for a spot on the podium, eventually pushing through to finish 3rd. Race 2 saw Dan start from a more challenging 5th place, but a storming start where Dan overtook Matt Solomon into turn 1 and 2, followed by a dive into turn 3 meant Dan moved up to 3rd place by the end of the first sector of the opening lap. The 7 lap race was interrupted by a safety car which meant only two racing laps were run and Dan took another podium. The final race of the weekend would see Wells line up 3rd on the grid. With his Shanghai based fans cheering him on with their British flags, Dan once again made a stellar start and he overtook his team mate James Munro in a daring move around the outside of turns 1 and 2. The safety car was then deployed for an incident with backmarkers on the opening lap, and racing resumed on lap 4. Wells hunted down race leader Jake Parsons, and on lap 6 Dan lined him up down the back straight and dived down the inside to take the race lead. Wells led the final 5 laps to take a victory in the last round of the season. Wells commented, “I’d like to thank KCMG for their part in ensuring my season finished better than it started. To finish with 3/3 podiums including a win in the final race is great for those behind the scenes who make it all possible. I’ve learnt a lot this year which I hope to take forwards with me in the future. I now return to Hong Kong to continue my sponsorship raising efforts for my debut in the Macau F3 Grand Prix in November.” Gary Thompson, acting team manager for KCMG, said "Dan was consistently fast throughout the whole weekend. He managed to work hard after the Saturday races where he took podiums in both races and made the step forward required to enable him to win the final race of the championship." Wells will next be in action at the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix on November 13-16. For information on how to be involved with Dan at the Macau GP, please contact trevor@danwellsinvestors.com
Macau F3 Grand Prix Seat Secured for Dan Wells - 8/10/14
Hong Kong based British racing driver Dan Wells will compete in the 2014 Macau F3 Grand Prix on November 13-16 with Toda Racing. In preparation, he will also be in action at the final round of the 2014 Japanese Formula 3 Championship with the Toda Racing team at Fuji Speedway on October 10-12. Fresh off the back of taking a podium and the Mobil One Master of the Weekend Award in his British F3 debut, and winning his previous race in the Formula Masters China Series with KCMG, Dan will make a step up to the final round of the Japanese F3 series with Toda Racing in preparation for his Macau F3 debut this year and a full Japanese campaign in 2015. Wells comments, "I wasn't expecting this opportunity so I am very grateful to everyone who has been working behind the scenes to make this happen. To be able to race in Japan this year is a milestone for me, especially so as I will also be making my Macau F3 GP debut with the Japanese Toda Racing team. Stepping up to such a competitive championship at the end of the season is going to be a challenge, but I am looking forward it and also to continuing my development as a driver." CEO of DWI, Trevor Wells, said "We weren't specifically targeting a Japanese outing this season, however momentum has picked up in the last couple of months and this is an opportunity we have to take advantage of. Our plan is for Dan to compete in a full Japanese F3 campaign in 2015 so to be able to have a race weekend under his belt before next year is a real positive". Wells Wins Formula Masters Thriller at Zhuhai International Circuit - 21/09/14
Hong Kong based racing driver Dan Wells took a spectacular victory in a thrilling final round of the Formula Masters China Series at the Zhuhai International Circuit this weekend (Sept 19/20/21) with his team KCMG. Having topped 3 out of 4 test sessions on the Wednesday and Thursday, Wells was confident heading into qualifying only to have his hopes dashed after the closest qualifying session of the season saw him struggle for pace with the changed track conditions, subsequently ending up in P7 and P5 for the weekend's races, just 0.287s from pole in the latter session. The first race saw Dan crashed out from behind by a rival driver on lap one, and with the fastest lap of this race determining the grid for race two, it meant Wells would have to start from the 14th position on Saturday morning. Dan had a storming race which saw him reach P5 at the end of the 7 lap affair. In race 3, Dan was starting in 5th, and managed to get to 2nd by the exit of the first corner, before the safety car was deployed to recover a stranded car on the circuit. A strong restart saw him challenge for the lead immediately at turn 1, only to lock up and flat spot his tyres in the attempted move. Nevertheless, Wells managed to finish 3rd to get yet another podium in the series. For Sunday's closing race 4, Wells lined up 2nd on the grid to team mate James Munro, and a tense opening lap saw him pull a move around the outside of turn 4 of the circuit, taking the race lead from his KCMG team mate. On lap 5, it was clear Dan was struggling with his brakes as he flat spotted his front right tyre, but Wells resisted the advances from Eurasia drivers Matt Solomon and Yuan Bo over the following 7 laps to speed clear of the pack and take a fine victory to close out the weekend. Dan commented, "This weekend has been a roller coaster of emotions. To be crashed out in the opening race was disappointing, but we kept progressing, kept our heads down and worked hard to improve. Taking 5th from the back of the grid, then moving up again to 3rd and subsequently taking a victory is a great way to round out the weekend. I'd like to say a huge thank you to Carbroso, the HK Classic Car and Vintage Festival and a few other people behind the scenes this weekend for their support this weekend, and also my family who have helped me achieve this win. It means a lot for sure." The final round of the 2014 Formula Masters China Series will take place at the Shanghai International Circuit on October 17/18/19. Wells Secures Double Podium in Sepang - 17/08/14
Hong Kong based racing driver Dan Wells completed Round 4 of the 2014 Formula Masters China Series achieving a double podium finish at the Sepang International Circuit on August 16/17. All practice and qualifying for the event took place on slick tyres. Dan topped testing on the Thursday before securing 3rd on the grid in Qualifying 1. Dan looked to have secured pole position in Qualifying 2 before being pipped on the last lap of the session. The first race on Saturday saw Dan start in 3rd position on a wet track. The race was started behind the safety car, and a relatively uneventful race saw him add another podium to his tally. The track soon dried up for the afternoon's race 2 - but a rear right wishbone failure on the warm up lap led to Wells having to retire to the pits and miss the race. Race 3 on Sunday saw Dan start in 2nd position in the extreme Sepang heat. After trying to take the lead in turn 1, he found his exit speed compromised and Wells dropped to 3rd place. In an effort to hit the front, Dan spun while trying to overtake for 2nd place, and he lost 7 seconds, and dropped down to 4th place by lap 6 of the 10 lap race. However, Wells got his head down and reeled in his team mate and current championship leader James Munro to overtake his rival in the fastest corner on the circuit - turns 5 and 6 - to take yet another podium. Wells commented after the weekend: "I was pleased with our speed this weekend - we managed to work well to achieve a good balance for qualifying and to miss out on pole by such a small margin was frustrating but that is racing. We didn't quite achieve the best wet setup for race one, and we were unlucky to have a mechanical failure which meant we didn't get to compete in race two but we came back on Sunday with a positive attitude. "After another scare on the formation lap where the whole car was shaking due to losing some wheel weights, and changing to a different set of tyres, we came home with another podium, and yet another good overtake in the extremely fast left-right in sector two of the track. It's not what we came for, but things can change, and very quickly too, so we are looking forward to the final 7 races of the season." John O'Hara, team manager for KCMG, said: “It was a tough weekend for the team and it is quite disappointing to leave Sepang with no wins. Nonetheless, a double podium from Dan is still a great result and it clearly shows that he is one of the top contenders in the championship.” Dan currently lies 3rd in the Championship after four rounds of the season with 101 points. Round 5 of the Formula Masters China Series is due to take place at the Zhuhai International Circuit with four races over September 19/20/21. Wells Takes Double Podium on Korean Debut - Sun, Jul 20, 2014
Hong Kong based racing driver Dan Wells completed Round 3 of the 2014 Formula Masters China Series achieving a double podium finish at the Inje International Circuit on July 19/20. All practice and qualifying for the event took place in dry conditions. The Bitcoin-supported driver qualified 2nd for races one and three, shy of pole by just 0.1s in each session, and 3rd for race two. The first race on Saturday saw Dan start in 3rd, but an audacious overtake around the outside of the fastest corners of the circuit, turns 1 to 3, saw him overtake Matt Solomon for 2nd place. Dan finished the race there, just 1 second adrift of his Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG team mate after 23 minutes of racing. In race 2, Wells started the 7 lap sprint race in 3rd position once more and remained there for the duration of the race to take another podium in the series. Race 3 saw Dan start in 2nd position, and overtake his team mate and current championship leader James Munro in turns 1, 2 and 3, but Munro crashed and barrel rolled on the exit of the corner causing a safety car. After the restart, Dan pulled away at the front, before a red flag for a massive crash on track (all drivers involved were uninjured). After the restart, Wells set fastest lap to win by 3 seconds. However, he was deemed to have jumped the original race start and was penalised 30 seconds which dropped him to 8th place in the race, and cost 17 valuable points in the championship battle. Wells commented after the weekend: "It is great to get another 2 podiums on Saturday, and I was really looking forward to the race on Sunday. From the video we can see I was creeping a few inches just before the 5th red light went out and this ultimately cost me the result I wanted. It was quite tough to have gone through a two safety car periods, a red flag, and get the job done with the fastest lap to boot, but that is racing and there were lots of positives to take away. "I'd like to thank my investors and sponsors for making this possible and I'm looking forward to the second half of the championship!" John O'Hara, team manager for Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG, said: "Dan got to grips with the circuit very quickly and put in a strong performance to line up at the front of the races. It is unfortunate for a win to be taken away and cost us championship points but this is racing and we are looking forward to the next round in Malaysia." Dan currently lies 3rd in the Championship after the first three rounds of the season. Round 4 of the Formula Masters China Series is due to take place at the Sepang International Circuit on August 15/16/17. For further information, please visit http://www.danwellsracing.com

Double Podium for Wells in Shanghai Mon, May 26, 2014
Hong Kong based racing driver Dan Wells completed Round 2 of the 2014 Formula Masters China Series achieving a double podium finish at the Shanghai International Circuit on May 24/25. All practice and qualifying for the event took place in dry conditions. The Joint Dynamics-supported driver qualified 2nd for races one and three, shy of pole by just 0.1s in each session, and 3rd for race two. The first race on Saturday saw Dan finish in 2nd place, just 1 second adrift of his Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG team mate after 23 minutes of racing. In race 2, Wells had work to do as he was starting 3rd on the grid, but thanks to a superb overtaking maneuver in the second corner, he managed to overtake 2nd placed Matt Solomon and go on to finish the race in 2nd place, once again just 1s shy of victory at the checkered flag. Race 3 saw Dan's Cebu Pacific Air by KCMG team struggle for pace relative to earlier in the weekend, and Wells ultimately came home in 4th place to move up to 2nd overall in the Driver's Championship. Wells commented after the weekend: "After the speed we showed on Thursday, it was a shame that I was edged by a tenth in qualifying which ultimately made the difference in the first two races. Race 3 was slightly more challenging as we struggled with the car but we have to sit down, analyse the data and come back stronger in Korea. In the mean time, I will be working hard to improve in all areas to ensure I can start winning races." Trevor Wells, CEO of Dan Wells and Investors Ltd, said: "Dan showed some fantastic pace this weekend. Two front row grid slots and a double podium finish is a great achievement. There is a long gap between now and the next round so we will take the necessary steps to put ourselves in a stronger position to fight for the championship." Dan currently lies 2nd in the Championship after the first two rounds of the season. Round 3 of the Formula Masters China Series is due to take place at the Inje International Circuit in Korea on July 18/19/20.

Wells completes successful debut Formula 3 test in Valencia
Hong Kong-based racing driver Dan Wells completed an impressive debut Formula 3 test in Valencia with multiple championship winning team, Carlin, last week (16, 18 December), taking to the track for a two-day period in preparation for the 2014 Japanese Formula 3 season. Joining the most successful team in the history of the British Formula 3 Championship, the 2012 Formula Pilota Vice Champion quickly impressed his team as he continued his climb up the motorsport ladder developing in the East. In a test that saw some of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship’s finest drivers participate, the Macau Grand Prix podium finisher lapped close to the pace driving the Dallara F308 that took Carlos Sainz Jnr to a double victory in the F3 Cup at Snetterton recently. Remaining pleased with his debut outing at Circuito Ricardo Tormo, Wells feels that the experience gained with Carlin was invaluable ahead of his title challenging plans in 2014. “I’ve had a fantastic couple of days in Valencia driving for Carlin, I’ve done more miles in two days than I have driven all season which is a great feeling,” said the Start JG supported driver. “The car was amazing to drive and it was great to get close to the lap times of the current FIA Formula 3 European Championship contenders, I’d like to say thank you to all of my investors, sponsors and the team for this brilliant opportunity.” Team Principal Trevor Carlin, responsible for breeding Formula One drivers such as Daniel Ricciardo, Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kyvat, was equally delighted with the performance of Wells upon the completion of his debut test. “Dan has done a very good job during the two-day period that he was in the Dallara F308,” said Trevor Carlin. “I was very happy with how he adapted to the demands of our high downforce machinery.” “He made fantastic progress in the car, learnt a lot from his engineers and fitted in very well with the whole team in general. Wherever Dan chooses to race Formula 3 next season, I’m sure that he will be a serious contender.” Wells will now return to the United Kingdom for the Christmas break before continuing his work with the newly-formed Dan Wells & Investors Ltd, responsible for raising the required budget for him to achieve his ambitions and DWI’s objectives. Hong Kong-based British racing driver Dan Wells will make his Formula 3 debut in Valencia (16-18 December), with eight-time British Champions, Carlin, responsible for propelling the careers of Daniel Ricciardo, Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniil Kyvat to the pinnacle of international motorsport, Formula One. Wells, a Vice Champion in the 2012 Formula Pilota China Series, collecting three victories and nine podiums in the process, will drive the team’s Dallara F308 that stormed to a double victory in the F3 Cup in October, as the young Brit prepares for a full campaign in the 2014 Japanese Formula 3 Championship. Having recently returned to racing after serving an 11-month absence due to budgetary issues, Wells was quick to impress in the final two rounds of the Formula Masters China Series in Shanghai and Macau, stealing a dominant second position in the latter on his first attempt at the prestigious circuit. Speaking of his return to Europe to begin his 2014 preparations, Wells is delighted to be presented with an opportunity to test under Trevor Carlin. “To be given the opportunity to test with Carlin on my debut F3 outing is pretty special,” said the Start JG backed driver. “Carlin are one of the biggest teams outside of Formula One with a tremendous history, so I’m really looking forward to getting out on track and seeing what I can deliver.” “It’s been a very busy year overseeing the formation of Dan Wells & Investors Ltd and we are in a very good place with lots of interest in the concept. Wells Storms to Podium in Macau Grand Prix Thriller
Young Hong Kong-based British Racing Driver Dan Wells completed his debut at the Macau Grand Prix in style yesterday (Sunday, 10th November), earning second position at the legendary 6.120 kilometre circuit in what was a close encounter to the chequered flag. The 2012 Formula Pilota China Series Vice Champion took to the treacherous street circuit in wet conditions which culminated in a three-lap safety car period, denying Wells the opportunity to attack pole-sitter Akash Nandy in a traditional standing start. As the safety car retreated to the pit lane, Wells immediately pressured KCMG team mate Nandy as the pack of aspiring Formula One drivers charged down to Mandarin for the first time. Unable to find a way past the Malaysian after numerous attempts, Wells kept hot-on-the-heels of his counterpart in drying conditions, reducing the initial three second deficit to just one as the race entered its final conclusion. The KEYPAD Magazine-backed racing driver soon made a last-gasp effort to secure victory as the cars approached the back markers with the race drawing to a close, however circumstances forced Wells to settle for second position at the chequered flag of the non-points scoring round. “I’m absolutely delighted with everything that we have achieved this weekend,” said Wells. “Macau is an incredible circuit to drive and I really enjoyed myself out there." "Obviously I wanted the top step on the rostrum; not least to reward my investors, supporters and sponsors, but I cannot be disappointed. I have had a forced absence from racing for a year due to lack of budget and it's been 18-months since experiencing wet tyres, let alone the new ones introduced since I last raced in 2012, so I have to acknowledge that and not be too hard on myself." Dan Wells and his management team will now focus on piecing together a full campaign in the Japanese Formula 3 Championship with KCMG next season. Wells Surges to Formula Masters Front Row in Macau
Macau circuit rookie Dan Wells surged to second position during Formula Masters China Series qualifying this afternoon (Saturday, 9th November), as the Hong Kong-based KCMG driver stole the show for the majority of the day’s proceedings at the legendary 6.120 kilometre street circuit. The 2012 Formula Pilota Series Vice Champion immediately impressed on his first outing at the track in Free Practice, leading the way for a large amount of the session before encountering traffic which would demote him to third position at its conclusion. Carrying his momentum into a red-flag interrupted qualifying session, Wells initially led the way by a staggering three seconds before eventually being pipped to top spot in the closing stages of the session. Reflecting on his performance, a delighted Wells remains confident of challenging for victory in the non-points scoring round tomorrow (Sunday, 10th November). “To be lining up on the front-row of the grid at the Macau Grand Prix tomorrow is an incredible feeling,” said the Start JG backed driver. “After nearly a year of not racing, but working hard to raise the funds to compete, it’s great to be out on track and show how competitive we are at such a prestigious event.” “I must say a huge thank you to my investors and sponsors for their continued support, I have been given a huge opportunity and would love to sign off the weekend with a victory here.” Formula Masters China Series action will get underway in Macau tomorrow, 10th November at 16:00 (CST). Macau Grand Prix Debut Beckons for Wells
Young Hong Kong-based British Racing Driver Dan Wells will make his debut on the legendary Macau Grand Prix Circuit this weekend (9/10 November), as the Formula Masters China Series culminates its season with a non-points scoring round at the world-famous 6.120 Kilometre venue. Returning to racing after serving an 11-month forced absence, Wells immediately impressed in the championship finale at Shanghai International Circuit two weeks ago, earning no less than two top-five finishes during the process of the weekend. After beating reputable names in the series upon his return, including the 2013 Formula Masters China Series Champion, the top KCMG Shanghai points scorer remains in confident spirits and believes that he is now better adjusted to the new for 2013 Volkswagen engine and Giti Tyres with a race weekend under his belt. “To be racing at Macau this weekend is something very special,” said the Joint Dynamics-backed driver. “So many established names in Formula One have conquered this circuit on their way up the motorsport ladder; I’ll be doing everything within my power to ensure that we can exit the weekend on a high.” “It’s my favourite circuit in the world and provides some interesting driving challenges, especially the middle sector, which is in my view the best part of the track. I just can’t wait to get out there and drive it for real.” “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my investors and sponsors for their continued support and look forward to enjoying this experience with them this weekend.” Formula Masters China Series action will get underway with Qualifying at 14:20 (CST) on Saturday, 9th November. Race action will begin at 16:00 (CST) on Sunday, 10th November. For more information about Dan Wells, visit www.danwellsracing.com.
